I weighed 270 lbs a couple days ago. Back to the low carb diet!
I have struggled with weigh since about my 40’s. I weighed 130 lbs when I graduated High School and entered the Army. After boot camp I was 135. I got out after my first tour for about 2 years and went back in and weighed 145. In my 40’s I was over 150.
The beginning of 2010 I had a checkup and weighed just over 250. I was told I was in a high percentile for heart attack and diabetes. I tired a couple of diets and the ones that worked best were always low carb. I lost 30 lbs in under 3 months. That was the most I had ever weighed in my life.
Since then I have allowed myself to indulge in food ignoring the saying – Eat to Live, not Live to Eat. And over and over again, I have had to take the low carb approach to loose some of the weigh. Typically getting back down to 230-240 and saying that was good enough and starting the cycle all over again.
Now I have to mention that over the years I have made some really good changes to my daily diet. I had completely cut out sodas, milk, breads, and many other bad foods. I have recently let some of those food creep back in in small amounts, but they will be easy to toss out again.
In the most recent struggles I have found some really great resources and have learned some new and important facts.
The first is Eat Your Medicine: The Pegan Diet With Mark Hyman, MD. This was a program on PBS and is also a book. I found a link to the show and hope it’s never lost.
I firmly believe that what we have been guided to eat has instead took us down a rod to destruction of our bodies and health.
Another a great resource is CarbDoging.com. A daily diet based on the Ketogenic Diet is the way I think everyone should eating. And this is exactly where I am heading this time with hopes to never struggle with weigh again.

An intermittent fasting is so very important as well. Having a never ending stream of carbs to stuff in our face is the wrong approach.
I will keep you posted on how my journey goes.
