To be honest, I sort of forgot about my website. Had so much going on and it was not even close to being on my list of things to do.
A lot has happened since my last post .
My wife and I have been doing great overall, but yes, we have had our obstacles to overcome.
We moved from our apartment in Norcross to a rental home in Lawrenceville, GA the first of December 2021. It was an awesome 2 story house (Didn’t really like going up/down stairs) with lots of room. We really enjoyed there. We were somewhat out of the city with bit of a country feel, despite being in a subdivision. Kelly was able to get a job at Kroger’s, which was about a 15 min drive. We found several very nice restaurants and was enjoying how convenient it was to get around and get to the stores we needed.
In January, my niece was killed in a car accident and that set off a whole chain of events that put us through one of the worst experiences of our lives. We agreed to a plea to return to north Georgia to take care of my mother.
Just to give you a little background, my step dad had passed away the previous year due to Covid 19, and my half-sisters were taking care of my mom, until she ran them off. This is not in the least bit surprising, as that side of the family has been dysfunctional for as long as I can remember. That was primary reason when I left I did my best to stay away and out of all the drama that regularly takes place. Well that has now had the last nail driven into the coffin and I vow to never have anything else to do with them ever again.
In February 2022, we were able to get out of rental agreement and moved back to north Georgia. We moved in with my mom and the first few weeks went well, according to plan, and all as promised and agreed to. The homestead had been neglected and was in a mess. The small lake on the property was overrun by beavers, water level was running over the dam, not to mentioned all the swamp areas above the lake. I started tearing down the beavers dams and getting rid of the beavers. That was fun, but nowhere close to easy. Getting up before sunrise and sitting in the cold and rain till after sunset many days to try to catch the beaver out and about proved to be a challenge. I was also rent equipment to remove trees my mom insisted needed removed and trying to do other repairs kept me busy when I was not working my job, which thank goodness was fully remote and allowed me the flexibility to make the move.
Mid March things started turning bad. Drama began creeping back in and putting Kelly and I in situations we did not care for. As time progressed the other side of the family was involved, and with it, full blown drama. Kelly and I packed up all that we could and removed ourselves from it. It was a couple weeks of hell and nightmares for us. We ended up living in a hotel for a week waiting for an apartment to become available.
We are very thankful to a few friends, and a couple who became friends, that helped us get our belongings removed and secured in storage and who provided advice and assistance during those trying times. They were for sure a God send answering our prayers.
In mid April we moved into our new apartment. Even still, being away from the drama, we still lived in fear of what other drama they might try to stir up just to bring more discomfort, financial stress, or whatever their evil minds might come up with toward us. It took a few weeks for us to finally begin to find peace and begin to feel free from it all and start enjoying life again.
Kelly was able to get a position nearby and has enjoyed her new job. In June I finally completed what began as a 6 month contract that lasted almost 4 years with a company in Atlanta. I enjoyed every minute of that contract position rewriting a 20 year old application for them. It was an experience I will never forget. I found a new fully remote position with a company located in Woodstock, GA and am very thankful it came without having to be unemployed for months.
Kelly and I are really enjoying our new home and have been discovering new restaurants and now have a list of favorites we visit weekly. I guess some would say we eat out too much, but it is fun and we enjoy getting out and about. We have found what we believe to be the best BBQ, Steak, Hibachi, Sushi, Mexican, and Italian restaurants within a 20 mile radius lol.
We recently spent a Sunday sight seeing and Kelly experienced the Incline Railway for her first time. We took a ride down to Mountain Cove Farms area and enjoyed the ride down the top of Lookout Mountain and the country side. I have to say that Mountain Cove Farms was not in the best kept condition and seemed to be soon a thing of the past regrettably.
That concludes this post to get caught up on what has been happening and I will try to get back to posting on a regular schedule.
Have a joyful life and always walk with God!
